Parents of Contributing School students who wish to enrol their children at Tauranga Intermediate are requested to fill in the enrolment card and administration forms when received and return them to their (Year Six) child’s teacher. Parents who wish to have interviews may phone the school for an appointment with the Principal or Deputy Principal, prior to class lists being compiled in early November. By then all classes will have been compiled and changes will not be able to be made after 1 December.
Students from outside the traditional contributing schools of Tauranga Intermediate will be subject to the conditions of the school enrolment scheme.
Remember: Attendance at a contributing school in our zone does not give you automatic entry to TIS. If you live out of zone you must apply for entry.
A ballot for all applicants from outside the geographic zone will be held in October. (see the calendar for date)
Testing for CWSA classes will take place at Tauranga Intermediate. (See the calendar for date)
The Multimedia Classes Ballot will be held early November.
From the information received from parents and the contributing school teachers, classes will be made up to suit students’ individual needs and abilities. The majority of students will be placed in mixed ability groupings at the Year 7 and Year 8 levels.
In addition, each year, students with special abilities are selected to work in a special abilities class, two at the Year 7 level and two at the Year 8 level. Students who have been in special education classes in contributing schools will be mainstreamed and provided with support from support staff. The special unit attached to Kaka Street will operate independently.
All successful applicants will be invited to attend a school Orientation Day.
For confirmation of dates please refer to the School Event Calendar
