BOT REPORT TO TAURANGA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL PTA
MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 2011
Board of Trustees
Recently the BOT made a strategic decision aimed at completing our blended learning programme more quickly and more equitably. This means that from next year all classrooms will have pods of ipads and laptops for students’ use. This is being funded through a combination of leases and charitable grants and follows on from our upgrade of ICT infrastructure throughout the school.
Building work has been a large part of board business for some time, and most recently with the remediation of the admin block; however, at the moment we have no updates on other remedial projects here at the school. These will be on the back burner until such time as the Ministry funds them.
Disciplinary matters are part of the board’s role and so far this year we have convened nine disciplinary committee meetings, compared with 14 last year and six in 2009. There have been three students excluded from school to date this year and the rest of those suspended have been returned to school or had their suspensions extended. Those students who return to school have conditions attached and are closely monitored.
For your interest, this time last year the remedial work was about to begin on the administration building and staff had moved into the gymnasium for the duration of the project.
The next BOT meeting will be on Thursday, November 24. Pippa Smith
